Challenge

The automation technology specialist SHL employs industrial robots for automated grinding, polishing and deburring tasks for a large number of industries. However, the robots reach their limits when it comes to complex geometries. In order to reach the farthest of corners, the grinding and polishing machines to which the robot holds the workpieces need to be able to perform swivel movements to reach specific positions.

Solution

The processing of complex geometries is made possible through the use of rotatable grinding and polishing machines operating on WEISS rotary indexing tables. And thanks to the broad range of WEISS rotary tables, standardised swivelling and positioning units can be developed. SHL generally purchases the rotary indexing tables for its swivelling and positioning units, as well as rotary indexing rings and heavy-duty tables for customised solutions, without drives.
